"Technology is therefore a form of wealth. The reason this is important is because the Bible says very little about technology as such, but it gives us a great deal of blunt and pointed teaching on the subject of wealth. If we learn how to deal with wealth scripturally, then we will have learned how to deal with technology." Ploductivity, Doug Wilson
You might ask how can technology be a form of wealth? To answer that question, we have to answer, what is wealth? Our usual answer is gold, silver, lands, houses, flats, liquid cash, TVs, phones and the list goes on. All these are good things to have and enjoy. But the reason we work so hard to get all these things is because we want to take care of the bigger wealth that is given to us--our spouses, children, aging parents, siblings, friends and relatives. We meet their physical needs with good houses, delicious food, beautiful clothes and toys they desire through the wealth like liquid cash, gold, silver, lands and houses. So all these are tools to care for the bigger wealth. But then, there is even bigger wealth. A soul and the souls of our spouses, our children, parents, siblings, relatives and friends. If our souls are even bigger wealth, then in what way are we called to care for them? What is the biggest need of our soul? Peace. Peace with God, peace in our hearts and peace with one another. That peace can only come through Jesus Christ. We can truly care for our soul by trusting in Christ and we can truly care for the souls of our loved ones by continually pointing them to the greatest treasure (Wealth), Jesus Christ. If we truly consider Jesus Christ as our biggest and greatest Treasure, everything we do (working, playing, learning, relationships, parenting, cooking, cleaning, business) and everything we have (gold, silver, lands, houses, phones, TV, computers) will become tools to point to that Treasure. Seek that Treasure and His kingdom through the tools He has given you.
