Update!

Vijay had his fourth month appointment with his paediatrician and he is doing well. We finally gave in to the pressure and got him his first dose of vaccinations on both his thighs. He did run a tiny bit of fever but a free sample of baby Tylenol from the doctor's office came to the rescue. He slept for 12 hours and he bounced back to normal the next day. He is now 26 1/4 inches tall (90% ranking) and weighs 14 pounds and 7 ounces (50%). His head circumference is 16 3/4 inches (50%). I'm often tempted to compare with other babies around and feel discouraged or proud. But I'm reminded to be thankful for his good health and celebrate the differences. Each baby is precious and displays the glory of its Creator. Not only did He create each of them but He also makes them grow each day. Of course God uses human means to create and also to grow them. We enjoy spending time with Vijay and he is the best entertainment in our household (much more exciting than "24"). He loves to make new noises these days and laughs at his mom and dad's funny faces. He is getting tired of playing on the playmat and he wants to sit up and look around instead. No signs of rolling over yet. We have been taking him to physical therapy once every week to stretch his neck muscles on his right side. Personally, I don't think he needs any physical therapy because he turns his head to the right just fine. He drools quite a bit and his hands are often in his mouth...he's even started to gag himself from time to time by poking his fingers in too far. He is sleeping 8 to 9 hours at night. We are in the process of training him to sleep without being swaddled. I enjoy being home with our little baby boy and it is a bittersweet feeling to see him grow so fast.

Recently I have been trying new recipes and returning to some classics as well. I made Pot Roast (2nd time...much much better than the first), Borsch, Sambar (found some new tricks), Chick Pea Curry, Kidney Bean Curry, Lamb Fry, Andhra-style Chicken Curry, Coconut Rice, etc. Naomi and I made a yummy Potato Curry and Dosas which turned out very good. Very soon I would like to venture into baking. Between feedings and writing this post, I even gave myself a hair cut. It turned out fine as far as I can tell. I have been reading the Gospel of Luke and also a couple of books here and there: Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ by Piper and What Is a Family? by Edith Schaeffer. Cameron has been reading The Old Evangelicalism by Iain H. Murray. Since the semester started, he probably won't be able to continue reading it. One of the classes he is taking is Film History II (1970 to current) and he has to watch two movies each week. So we watched 'Patton', 'The Sting' and 'Saving Private Ryan' (filtered versions...we have a great DVD player from ClearPlay). We also started watching first season of "24" couple of weeks ago and have yet to finish it.

I was thinking back to Luke's stats, and Vijay is actually taller than Luke was at 4 months - he was an even 26". :) Maybe they'll grow up to play basketball together!

Ezekiel doesn't like to lay down for very long either. will Vijay sit contentedly in his swing? Ezekiel enjoys sitting in his chair in the living room, or stroller in the kitchen, and watches me. he lasts longer if i talk to him and smile at him while i do my stuff.

Sounds like Vijay is doing great with his stats and even sleeping 8-9 hours at night! Do you feel like a renewed mom now that you're getting better sleep?

I think every parent struggles with comparing their child to another, be it negative or positive. The thing to remember is that each child has been uniquely formed by God and His hand is on them even as they develop. I've counted it a blessing that Jaida is not walking yet, which means more time for me to relax!! =)

Great to hear this update...thanks.

Glad to hear that Vijay is doing so well and growing like a champ :) Good job mommy!!!
Don't you feel like the time is flying? I remember in the beginning it seemed like time was moving so slowly, but once Aiden hit 2 months and he started to be so much fun that the days just flew by!

mmmm, also wanted to say that I wish I could try all the yummy curry that you are making. I remember all the great stuff you used to make in the international house. Those were fun times, huh?

I'm glad Vijay is doing so well. It's fun to see our little ones grow (although I really enjoyed how tiny Taeya was when she was born). Your dinner's sound so yummy! I LOVE Indian food and just made curry this week. I for one would love it if you were to share some of your recipes online!

Yeah! I'm so glad you're going to make the chicken. It reminds me of a middle-eastern currry.

I do like garbonzo beans. I'll eagerly anticipate your recipe. :)
