Yeah! Vijay is showing signs of growth and we are excited. First of all I want to praise God for His goodness in each day of Vijay's life, for all the ups and downs during pregnancy, early C-section, good health for both the mom and baby, early morning and sleepless nights, perseverance to continue nursing and so many little and big details. Recently I was a little concerned that he was not smiling yet or doing the things that a normal 7 week old would do. Then I came across my regular newsletter that I receive in my Inbox that said 'Your baby - Four Weeks'. I normally delete them ever since my C-section because I'm not pregnant anymore and my baby is not the at same week as they calculate according to my due date. For some reason I opened this week's email and found that baby is doing exactly what a four week old would do. Today he is eight weeks old but according to my due date, he is 5 weeks old. He is following objects and persons with his eyes, starting to smile and doing much better staying awake. I was encouraged to read this and find my expectations to be a little too high.

By the way, he can hold his head up very well and he has been doing this for about three weeks. I got a little overconfident with him the other day and held him with one arm while I started doing chores around the house with the other. He almost slipped out of my grasp a few times and I caught him just in time. I was reminded of God's hand of protection even when mama gets a little overconfident. This morning daddy put him on his tummy on our bed and moved over giving him a little slope and he rolled over. He can stand on his legs if we hold him up. He has been smiling for the past two days when he is awake. Last night he slept for two successive four-hour periods. We are still working on getting him to sleep unswaddled. All that to say, we are encouraged with his growth and praise God for His grace.
Check out this picture to see how nicely he is sleeping in cozy, warm and pregnant Georgia's arms.

He zonks pretty fast whenever she holds him with all the heat coming from her.

We also had a visit from an old friend, the gentle giant Basaba who is here on a visit from Uganda.

i'm so happy to hear about the smiling! that is my favorite part, when a baby starts to smile. Praise to God for everything in Vijay's little life, he is off to a great start with very loving parents who are already guiding him as he grows.
Yeah! Basaba got to see the little guy! Who wouldda thunk that he would meet Vijay before me? Well, I'm glad Tony is in town. At least for a little while.
It's easy to expect certain things from your baby, especially when it is your first.
All the babies around Jaida's age are crawling and she hasn't even attemtped to. It can be frustrating, but then it's really just too high of expectations. Each baby develops differently and at a different pace.
Vijay is doing well and yeah for 4 hours of sleep in a row!!!
